Kasia Dutch

Software Developer at edume

London, United Kingdom

Hi, I'm Kasia, a mid-level software engineer, coding instructor, and mentor. I've been working at a start up for over two years since doing a boot camp. It's a huge honor to be living proof that taking an unconventional path into the tech industry can change your life!

I did my degree in Russian and Chinese, but I didn't really know what I wanted to do for work long-term, even a few years after graduating. I fell in love with coding because it allowed me to creatively apply my language skills and offers interesting problem-solving challenges - now I've found my calling!

As a career-switcher, I'm deeply committed to making the industry a more diverse and inclusive space. In my spare time, I'm a coding instructor and mentor, hoping to encourage more women and girls to enter the tech world by paying my own experiences forward.

Outside of tech, I love expressing my creativity through arts and crafts, regularly do yoga, and find a lot of joy in cooking something delicious!

Senior Software Engineer

Barcelona, Spain

I began my career with a strong foundation in the arts, earning a degree that honed my creative thinking, communication and management skills. However, my passion for technology, which began at age 12 when I started coding on the side, eventually led me to transition into software development in 2018. This shift allowed me to merge my artistic vision with technical expertise, enabling me to create pixel perfect and user-focused digital solutions.

Since changing careers, I've become a full-time software engineer with a proven track record in web development, working on impactful projects and contributing to the tech community. My journey from the arts to technology, underpinned by years of coding experience, has equipped me with a unique perspective that drives my innovative approach to software design and development.

Software Engineering Freelance Trainer

Mexico City, Mexico

Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m a freelance software engineering trainer with a blend of experience in software engineering, teaching, and curriculum development. I’ve spent over three years working as a software engineer and, for the past two years, I’ve been teaching others how to code. My teaching covers a broad tech stack, including Node.js, Express, React, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Python. as well as essential principles such as UX design, agile methodologies, version control, Docker, and test-driven development.

My transition into educational technology was driven by a desire to pave the way for others in the tech world. During university, a mentor introduced me to programming and guided me into the tech industry. I aim to be that mentor for others, combining my technical expertise with my passion for educational design to help learners thrive in their tech careers.

I’m also passionate about creating empowering spaces for future female tech leaders, hence my desire to join GirlCode.

Junior Developer

London, United Kingdom

Hi I'm Jasmine and I am a Developer at a Digital Agency where we create custom bespoke websites for our clients. Prior to this I worked as a Technical Author, but my passion for web development led me to my current role. For the past 2 years, I have also been working as a coding instructor teaching web development courses to help other women also make the career switch into a role in tech.

My background has not always been in Tech - originally I studied Clinical and Educational Psychology and then worked as a Primary School Teacher, but after picking up coding as a hobby I realised that I wanted to work in tech full-time.
