Junior Software Engineer

Friday, 5 May 2023

Could you please introduce yourself?

My name is Rossana, I am from Italy, but I have been living in London for the last 10 years. I love languages and I always try to improve them.
Calisthenics is definitely my medicine for keeping myself healthy and happy. Committing to Calisthenics has helped me to build habits and consistency has been the key to get where I am today. Int he evening I love relaxing on the sofa while knitting a nice sweater or maybe unravelling one and watching a movie.

Whats your background?

I have been working as a Project Manager in localisation agencies for the last 5 years.

Whats your current role?

I just finished my bootcamp at General Assembly and I am currently looking for a job as a Junior Software Engineer.

Why have you decided to learn to code?

I found my job becoming repetitive and I am a person always ready to learn something new. While I was at university, thanks to my professor I was introduced to HTML and CSS, which I loved, but I felt quite restricted by the nature of the language. I started taking some course at sheCodes.

Do you think its important to learn to code?

Technology is the future, so yes it is definitely important. It is a learning curve that never ends, but in a good way.

Do you feel the tech industry is male dominated? How can we encourage more women into the industry?

I am very often on Linkedin and I like to check if the company is male-dominated or not. A lot of these companies are heavily male-dominated.
We need to encourage more woman to join these communities, where we can help each other.

Did you struggle being a woman in the tech industry yourself?

I will let you know once I find a job

Whats the most rewarding and most challenging parts of your tech career so far?
